Spectacular Places To Go Hiking In Germany: Sea of Rocks

Felsenmeer, Odenwald, Germany

Guten Tag Kaptain Kenny readers,

This time we’re quite excited to present this new location to you. Not only because it’s pretty un-typical of the Germany you might imagine but also because it was a beautiful day filled with insane scenes.

The Felsenmeer Forest lies in Germany’s Odenwald region and is quite literally, as its name would suggest, a ‘sea of rocks’. I don’t think I could have expected that Germany would have scenery like this – what a pleasant surprise!

This forest is extremely easy to access by car, just type this into your navigator and the rest is history!

Seifenwiesenweg 59, 64686 Lautertal

The car park was completely empty when we went in mid-June and only cost a few EUR for a couple of hours. My tips are as follows:

So as usual, we’d prefer to let the pictures tell the story. If you have any feedback, be sure to leave us a message 🙂

Ciao 🙂

I bet you didn’t expect a place like this to exist in Germany!
Hikers please stay on the paths.
These are what your paths look like.
A sea of rocks!
Pit stops going up the mountain.
Very fresh air, as you could imagine.
Weeeee – rocks!
See those little kids down there for size?
Wild things growing.
So many shades of green!
This was stop number 3 out of a total 8 pitstops.
It’s virtually a kid’s wonderland here.
If you dare, you can let your kids climb through the rocks.
It’s not always 100% safe to climb the rocks though which is why we stuck to the paths.
TIMMMBEERRRRRR….
The forest was gorgeous – mossy, green and alive.
The rocks in this forest are millions of years old. Check the Wikipedia page!
Yes hello!
Serenity now 🙂
