As you know, I lived in Valencia last year for many weeks. What you may not expect is that I’m still salivating thinking about the food consumed while I was living there. Valencia is surprisingly a real foodie-city.
This post can be used as a small guide for the best places to eat and drink at.

It’s always sangria time in Russafa.
Order yourself a freshly made gazpacho soup in one of the cafes and you won’t be disappointed. It’s cold and refreshing and made from cucumber and fresh tomatoes. You can also keep an eye out for the Menu del Dia which is usually a three course meal for under 10 euros.
If you come to Valencia and fail to have a freshly pressed juice or acai bowl here OR fail to try something else delicious and healthy on their menu, you have missed out big time! Type Almalibre into Google Maps. http://www.almalibreacaibar.es/
Head to the Mercado Central which is one of Valencia’s top tourist spots. You can buy just about anything there – but these two locally made craft beers were my favourite! https://www.mercadocentralvalencia.es/
Insanely good food and in a really stunning location. I think this used to be a large market hall which has now been renovated into a shiny and gorgeous new dinner destination with countless dinner options. Type in Mercado de Colon for the location and the best restaurant there is Ma Khin Cafe. http://www.makhincafe.com/

They were so loud and close – that would never have been allowed in Australia which is rules-ville.
Taronja, my language school was amazing. Each day they organised fun events for us Spanish kiddies to do! This was a rooftop beach bar paella and sangria party. Check out that rice!
There are so many bars in Russafa. In fact, if you’re looking for a place to go out – that’s where you need to head!
Fellow Australians, please hold your orgasms. Yes that’s a bucket of 5 Coronas for 5 euros. Hashtag SPAIN people.
The skinniest building in Valencia. Only 1.07 metres wide! If you visit the cafe to the right, (where that lady is sitting) make sure you ask for a cortado there. A yummy and strong way to start the day.

If you can find this castle in El Carmen (which should be pretty easy as it’s directly opposite the Mercado Central), there’s a cute little cafe owned by a Dutch man and a Norwegian woman. I’m bummed that I never found out the name of it but they had great coffee and tostada con tomate.

BAR & KITCHEN – best place for fresh drinks including juices, salads and nibbles. Really stylish and modern interior and design too. Sadly no link for you but it’s in El Carmen so Google that and enjoy!
